Driver education programs are available statewide to students, adults and out-of-school youths. Public and private school programs are approved by the Department of Education. This course is licensed by DMV and Department of Education. The program is 36 classroom periods, including components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel-efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness, organ and tissue donation awareness and the 90minute parent/teen component. (Parent/teen only for under 18 years of age.)
This course will meet the 3 test failure requirement and the Driver Education requirement (Both).
Virginia Driver Education Approved by the Department of Education. State Approved - Virginia Department of Motor Vehicle Online Driver Education Course.
About Online Driver Training School Courses.
The program consists of at least 30 hours of instructions and includes components about alcohol safety, drug abuse awareness, aggressive driving, distracted driving, pedestrian and bicycle safety, handicapped parking, fuel efficient driving practices, motorcycle awareness and organ and tissue donation awareness as required by law.
You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old to take the online driver education course. All individuals who elect to take the classroom component of the driver education course online must take the online course through a DMV licensed driver training school. This (our) course is approved for home school students, public school, private school and online students.
This course will meet the 3 test failure requirement and the Driver Education requirement (Both).
In order to benefit from the course, you must be able to work independently and be comfortable with using a computer.
• On the day of testing, you must bring the following to the test site:
• Identification (DMV issued identification card, school issued identification card, Birth certificate, social security card, valid passport or military identification)
. Proof of completion of the on line driver education course (we will have this in the system)
• A completed "Parental Consent for Online Driver Education Examination" (DTS 62), if you are under age 18 (we will have a extra DTS 62 if you can not find on DMV site)
• The online driver training school will provide a computer for testing.
As of July 1, 2022 the 90minute parent/teen component is required for everyone in Virginia under the age of 18. The 90minute parent/teen component is included in this course and no extra steps are needed.
This additional minimum 90-minute parent/student driver education component is part of the classroom portion of the driver education curriculum for students under the age of 18. The curriculum emphasizes parental responsibilities regarding juvenile driver behavior, juvenile driving restrictions and the dangers of driving while intoxicated and underage consumption of alcohol, as required by Virginia Code §22.1-205 of the Code of Virginia.
NOTE: Students, along with their parent, guardian, or foster parent, can complete the component in person at their high school.
The 90minute parent/teen component is included in our course and no extra steps are needed.
